Facials on Waiheke Island – The Koukoulee Guide

A thoughtful approach to skin, timing and care

At Koukoulee, our facials combine skilled facial massage, lymphatic drainage and carefully considered skincare in our calm, ocean-view studio in Oneroa.

We work with the skin rather than aggressively on it—supporting healthy circulation, lymphatic flow and a strong, resilient skin barrier. Each treatment is shaped around what your skin needs on the day, while also considering your nervous system, lifestyle and where you are in life.

Because good skin isn’t created through one dramatic intervention. Like strength, movement and other forms of wellbeing, it is built gradually through thoughtful, consistent care.

Choosing a facial shouldn’t feel complicated. This guide will help you understand which treatment may suit you best, how to time your facial around an event and how to care for your skin before and afterwards.

Our Facial Treatments - Which facial is right for you?

Mindful Facial

Best for:
Sensitive, reactive or inflamed skin · hormonal or perimenopausal skin · anyone feeling stressed, depleted or overwhelmed

Our most grounding facial, created for skin—and nervous systems—that need calm.

Gentle lymphatic drainage, facial massage and fascia release help ease tension, support circulation and bring the skin back into balance without overstimulation. Every element is adapted to how your skin is presenting on the day.

You’ll leave feeling:
Calm, rested, hydrated and softly glowing.

Sculpting Facial

Best for:
Dull or sluggish skin · puffiness or fluid retention · jaw, neck and facial tension · anyone wanting a visibly lifted, energised appearance

Our most active, massage-led facial.

Working more deeply into the muscles and fascia of the face, jaw, neck and scalp, this treatment helps release held tension, encourage lymphatic flow and bring definition and vitality back to the face.

It is ideal when your skin looks tired or your face feels heavy, puffy or tense.

You’ll leave feeling:
Lifted, brighter, lighter through the face and more defined.

Restore Facial

Best for:
Dry, depleted or mature skin · loss of firmness and elasticity · compromised skin barriers · skin needing deeper nourishment and ongoing support

Our most comprehensive facial ritual.

Restore brings together targeted skincare, restorative facial massage and deeply nurturing touch to replenish hydration, support the skin barrier and improve the appearance of firmness, texture and vitality.

This is not about pushing the skin harder. It is about giving it the conditions it needs to function well, recover and become more resilient over time. LED therapy may also be incorporated or recommended where appropriate.

You’ll leave feeling:
Deeply nourished, replenished, plump and supported.

Facial Massage (30 minutes)

Best for:
Regular maintenance · between longer treatments · jaw, temple or forehead tension · a quick boost before an event

A shorter, massage-focused treatment designed to maintain healthy lymphatic flow, release facial tension and keep the skin looking fresh between your longer facials.

It can also be booked before an event when you want to feel brighter and more refreshed without introducing an intensive treatment.

You’ll leave feeling:
Relaxed, refreshed and restored.

When should you book a facial?

For weddings, parties, and special events

For your main facial, we recommend booking approximately three to five days before your event. This gives the skin time to settle while allowing the benefits of the treatment to continue unfolding.

Because our facials are very natural and non-invasive, there is zero downtime. In fact, we work with lymphatic drainage and circulation techniques that actively stimulate lymph flow and blood flow in the skin. This means the full results—such as a more sculpted, “snatched” jawline, reduced puffiness and a dewy, radiant glow—continue to develop for 24 to 48 hours after your treatment.

For an additional boost, a 30-minute Facial Massage one or two days beforehand can help reduce puffiness and enhance your natural radiance without overwhelming the skin.

For travel or post-flight recovery

Book your facial within one to three days of arriving on Waiheke.

Flying, disrupted sleep and changes in climate can leave the skin dehydrated, puffy and unsettled. A facial can help replenish moisture, encourage lymphatic flow and create a moment for your whole system to reset.

For ongoing skin health

One facial can leave your skin feeling refreshed, hydrated and cared for. Lasting change, however, comes from consistency.

Most clients benefit from a facial every four to six weeks. Others prefer to book seasonally, particularly when changes in weather, hormones, stress or routine begin to affect the skin.

There is no single schedule that suits everyone. We can help you find a rhythm that feels realistic for your skin, your goals and your life.

What to do before your facial

To help your skin respond well:

  • Avoid retinol, exfoliating acids and other strong active products for three to five days beforehand, unless we have advised you otherwise.

  • Avoid introducing unfamiliar skincare immediately before your appointment.

  • Arrive well hydrated and, if possible, without rushing.

  • Come makeup-free if convenient, although this isn’t essential.

Most importantly, arrive as you are. You don’t need to diagnose your skin or decide exactly what it needs before you come in—that is part of our role.

What to do after your facial

Facial results continue to unfold after your treatment. To protect them:

  • Plan a relaxing day after your facial - avoid stressful work to give your skin a chance to restore

  • Skip saunas, intense exercise, and heat on the day

  • Keep skincare simple and nourishing

  • Drink plenty of water

  • Allow your skin time to settle and glow

Consistency matters more than intensity. Regular, supportive facials create the best long-term results.

Consistency matters more than intensity

Healthy skin is rarely the result of a quick fix. It is built through regular care, thoughtful adjustments and treatments that evolve with your skin.

With consistent appointments, we can observe how your skin responds, adapt each treatment and support meaningful changes over time.

Our facial packs make that consistency easier: book a series of three facials and receive your third treatment at 50% off.

Still not sure which facial to book?

You don’t need to have it all figured out.
If you’re unsure, choose the facial that feels closest — we can always adjust on the day to suit your skin, your nervous system, and what you need most.
